The discoveries of the Greek mathematician Archimedes nearly 2,000 years ago established laws of physics still viable today. Francis Coppola’s grandfather, Agostino, so greatly admired the intellect and ingenuity of the mathematician that he gave his first son the same name. Today, we pay homage to Coppola’s Uncle Archimedes with our new flagship wine.
Archimedes is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley and Cabernet Franc from Knights Valley. Atypical of most Cabernet Francs, ours is darker and more opaque than our Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our 2007 Archimedes is a wine that speaks highly of the variety, the place, and the vintage. It’s incredibly smooth with velvety tannins, a round palate, and intense aromas of black cherries, cassis, and violets. What’s more, this highly complex wine boasts a beautiful tapestry of flavors including black plums and wild berries, with licorice and vanilla layered between fragrant spices. It shows great length, woodsy character and a delightfully creamy mocha finish.
