Sonoma County experienced an excellent 2009 vintage, as did most of California, where light spring rains were followed by warm summer days and no abrupt climate changes throughout the season. Ideal weather conditions allowed us to be highly selective at harvest, choosing only the very best fruit. Because the grapes achieved perfect, even ripening, they were abundantly flavorful, highly aromatic and very well-balanced.
As a result, this year’s Reserve Chardonnay displays an alluring perfume of tropical fruit, honeysuckle and crème brulée. Succulent flavors of pears, apples, cinnamon, and vanilla toasted oak enliven the rich, silky texture before more vibrant notes of tangerine, pineapple and minerals unfold on the finish—a truly elegant rendition this year.
